Regular Council Meeting
September 1, 2009
Meeting called to order by Mayor Harold M. Edwards at 7:00pm.
Invocation given by Councilman Smith
Pledge of Allegiance led by Councilman Tucker
Welcome extended to all by Mayor Edwards recognizing Houston County Commissioner Jay
Walker. Present were Mayor Harold M. Edwards, Jr., Councilman Cameron Andrews, Councilman Randall Wright,
Councilman Edward Tucker and Councilman Robert Smith, Jr. Also present City Administrator Patrick Eidson and
City Attorney Rebecca Tydings.
Adoption of Minutes
August 4, 2009 Pre Council Meeting: Motion made by Councilman Wright to adopt minutes as written; seconded by
Councilman Smith. Motion carried.
August 4, 2009 Regular Council Meeting: Motion made by Councilman Tucker to adopt minutes as written;
seconded by Councilman Smith. Motion carried.
August 18, 2009 Council Work Session Meeting: Motion made by Councilman Andrews to adopt minutes as written;
seconded by Councilman Smith. Motion carried.
August 27, 2009 Special Council Meeting: Motion made by Councilman Tucker to adopt minutes as written;
seconded by Councilman Andrews. Motion carried.
Presentation of Proclamation: September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month: Mayor Edwards
recognized Kim Adkison and McAffe family (Joanna McAfee Childhood Cancer Foundation). Mayor Edwards thanked
the McAfee family for tribute to the memory of their daughter and as a family. Mayor Edwards read
proclamation declaring September as “Childhood Cancer Awareness Month”. Proclamation presented to McAfee
family. Mr. McAfee presented Mayor Edwards with a teeshirt with silhouette of a little girl that was actually
derived from a photo of Joanna.
Old Business
Les Still Concert Ad Sponsorship: Action taken in the Pre Council Meeting.
Home Based Business License: J Bauer Consulting (Jeanne
Bauer), 109 MacIntosh Lane: Councilman Tucker stated that Mrs. Bauer has been involved with the DDA for some
time. The business will be solely for marketing and no customers at residence. A copy of application provided
to Governing Authority for review. Motion made by Councilman Tucker to approve home based business license;
seconded by Councilman Wright. Motion carried.
Mayor Edwards stated that there are several clubs/organizations that make up the fabric of Centerville.
Mayor Edwards extended thanks to all employees of city for their hard work. The city is looking at ways to
improve the quality of life here in Centerville.
Mayor Edwards adjourned at meeting at 7:25pm.
