Trash, Limbs, Yard Waste and Paint

Trash items, limbs and yard waste will be picked up on the same day as your household garbage.

Trash is defined as items of paper, plastic, cardboard or metal ( but not limited to these) that are not considered to be household garbage or are too large to fit into the cart.  Examples of trash are porch swings, landscaping timers, grills, etc.  Small items like grass clippings, pine straw, leaves, bush clippings or packing peanuts must be bagged and sealed.  NOTE:  PLEASE use bags strong enough so they will not break when picked up.  ANY ITEMS NOT BAGGED WITHIN 7 DAYS WILL BE PICKED UP AND CHARGED TO CUSTOMER.

Trash does NOT include construction materials OR limbs.

Trash, limbs, yard waste and the cart must be placed within 2 feet of the road BEFORE
5:00 a.m. on the scheduled pickup day.

Limbs must be placed at least 10 feet away from your cart and trash items.  Limbs must be no longer than 4 feet.  We will remove from your roadside weekly no more than 6 cubic yards of limbs, which is the equivalent to three of the truck hoppers full.  This is approximately a pile that is 4 feet by 6 feet by 4 feet high.  This rule is only to ensure that each customer is treated fairly due to the time factor.  Limbs also must be placed at the roadside no later that 5 a.m.

NOTE:  All handicapped residents will be evaluated and have to be approved to get the handicapped privilege.

Paint must be mixed with sand as per OSHA regulations.  Lid must be placed on container and container marked as such.

Garbage carts are not to be damaged in any way.  They are for trash use only.  90 gallon blue containers, to be used for yard waste only, may be obtained for a $49.50 deposit, refundable at the end of service.

Please keep in mind these carts are not required for your yard waste.  You may use strong plastic bags, it you so desire:  however, the carts may be more useful in collecting your yard waste as well as a convenient way of storing yard waste until your scheduled pickup.

If you would like to purchase a yard waste cart, please come by our office at 112 Houston Lake Blvd or call (478) 953-1058.  Payment for the cart will be made to Centerville Sanitation and must be collected at the time of order.  Upon payment, the cart will be delivered to your residence.

Cardboard boxes are NOT authorized containers for garbage, trash or yard waste.  When cardboard gets wet it falls apart and will not hold up.  Any trash, garbage or yard waste in cardboard boxes will not be picked up.

• Tuesday Route:  WEST OF COLLINS AVE – to East Side of Houston Lake Blvd and Watson Blvd, up to the Bay Gall

• Wednesday Route:  WEST OF HOUSTON LAKE, Springlake MHP, Eagle Trace MHP and Crestwood Estates. 

SPECIAL HANDLING WASTE

 If you have any special handling items you must call and make pick up arrangements with the City (953-3222).  There are charges that apply to some of the special handling waste items (see list below).   The contractor, according to size and content, will price any items that are not listed.  

Any special handling item that is placed beside the road without making arrangements with the City for pick up, will be automatically picked up within 7 days and the resident billed for the pick up at a rate that is in line with the price list below.

If you are doing a major yard clean up, call the City first.  There may be an extra charge for the material you are disposing of.

Toxic and hazardous materials are excluded from pickup.
